Write a letter

Often people are reluctant to write letters / emails to government bodies or their elected officials, just because they believe their voices will not be heard. But be assured: If you do write, you will make an impact – maybe small at first – but the more people write, the bigger the impact ...

If you don't write, you won't be heard!

So, if you take the time to write a letter, it is a good idea to send a copy of the letter or email to all the people on the list below that you think might be involved in the decision making process and need to hear your arguments. Here is where you can write to:

  • BC Government

    With respect to the land exchange, the provincial government has the final say. While ‘simple’ land exchanges can be approved be the Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, the removal of the UREP designation from part of the main land Crown lot has to be approved by an order-in-council, meaning the whole cabinet.

  • BC Government, Local Agencies

    The local agency of the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations in Williams Lake deals with the exchange application and makes a recommendation to the BC government for a final decision.

  • BC Legislature

    Although not directly involved in the land exchange, other possible addressees for your letters include the regional MLAs and the critics of the official opposition.

  • Cariboo Regional District

    The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) is responsible for rezoning the Crown Land lot from “Resource Area (RA)” to “Lakefront Residential (RL)”. Once the application has been submitted by the developer, the normal rezoning process for the property begins, as outlined on the page “Land Use Planning”.
